Next Pool Session:
ECSAC Commitee Meeting:
We meet at Macclesfield Leisure Centre on Thursday evenings. We run courses for Scout and other groups, individuals and families on a course by course basis. Please contact us to arrange your place on the next available course. The pool session runs from 8:00pm to 9.00pm. Please allow 15 minutes before your session is due to start.
This section of the club exists to teach young and old how to safely enjoy the sport of snorkelling, and to introduce you to the fantastic world under the sea.
What do we do?
Courses
The club training is based on progressing through a series of BSAC courses. Theory lectures are given to complement practical sessions in the pool (much of this is similar to topics covered in Science at school). Advancement occurs at your own pace, through several grades:

·Basic Snorkel Diver
·Snorkel Diver
·Ocean Snorkel Diver
·Advanced Ocean Snorkel Diver
·Snorkel Dive Marshall

Basic training is also given in first-aid, rescue and resuscitation techniques as part of the Snorkel lifesaver award.

There are also opportunities to train as Instructors and Assistant Instructors. We run Assistant Instructor courses within the branch and facilitate attendance at regional instructor courses.
During the summer months, the club organises day trips so that open water skills can be taught and tested.
We visit a variety of open water sites including sheltered inland quarries such as Capernwray near Carnforth, River Lune and the sea at places such as Anglesey.
Equipment
The club will provide you with basic equipment (mask, snorkel, fins) for your first few sessions.
Once you have settled in, you will be expected to obtain your own equipment. Before purchasing any equipment, it is recommended that you talk to any of the instructors for advice. You will also learn the basics of equipment choice and maintenance early in your training.
